PEN INTERNATIONAL is a worldwide association of writers founded in London in 1921 to promote literature and intellectual co-operation among writers everywhere and to defend freedom of expression of all writers. At the international conference recently held in London on a digital basis with the title “100 years of celebrating literature and protecting freedom of expression,” the foundation of PEN GREECE was decided by a large majority in the framework of the thematic field “Freedom of Expression in the Time of Pandemic.” The event includes a brief overview of the efforts and initiatives, the goals and forthcoming actions, as well as of the potential to connect with the international partners of the association for the promotion of the Greek literature abroad and the contribution of PEN GREECE to the protection of freedom of expression.
